Voting Question: Could I Lose Weight Doing This?

so, i'm thinking about going on a juice diet, but i want to be sure that i'm still being like healthy about it. so what if i have juice for like breakfast, lunch and snacks, but then dinner i have a low carb-low calorie-high protein meal? for example, i'll have like homemade juice for every meal, and then like baked tofu with a salad or something for dinner, some sort of south beach phase 1 recipe. will i still lose weight? how much could i lose in like 2 weeks? also, i'll be working out every day. probably like 20-30 minutes of cardio (treadmill at an incline, elliptical, stair step machine, etc) and 15-20 minutes of weight training (bowflex and free weights) and i'll do like crunches and other ab stuff too. will i be able to see results in 2 weeks? how much weight will i lose? dont worry, i'll be taking a multi-vitamin and stuff too. if it helps...right now i'm 5'1'' and 145 pounds. thanks in advance. y'all are loved. more

I have a modified recipe for "Mock" Garlic Mashed Potatoes that sounds better than the one given in the book. The only ingredients I'm unsure about are the 1tablespoon of cream cheese and 1/4 cup of parmesan cheese. Oh, and while I'm on the subject....what about zucchini spaghetti with tomato sauce? So i started the South Beach Diet today, which i love because it just teaches you how to eat healthy and in moderation. See, i am self recovering from an eating disorder and last time i attempted this all i did was shovel junk food into my mouth and tell myself i was recovering, but this time i decided to go about it in a way that will teach me to eat healthy and not freakishly count calories, but also help me too not overeat junk food when i do have it. So i am going to follow South beach, the usual..first 2 weeks no sugar, baked goods, breads, fruit and just follow the recipe book and have lots of veggies , egg beaters, lean meats and 1/2 cup part skim ricotta for my calcium. I will be walking 30 mins. after school, dancing, Wii fit and some toning exercises, and more walking on my treadmill at night. I have exactly 4 weeks to shed unneeded fat. I am 5'9 and about 122 lbs. I know you are all going to say, oh you don't have fat!!! But, yes..i do. I have unneeded side and stomach fat that i hope to lose. I need to lose some fat, but I HATE to cook!!! Really hate it! I can handle spaghetti and scrambled eggs, but anything more complicated and I won't do it. I just won't. That's how lazy I am. That said, are there any diet cookbooks geared for extremely lazy "cooks"? Exercise and cardio are not the problem--I already walk/jog 45 min/3 days per week--not because I like it (I don't!) but because I know there's absolutely no way around it. But there's gotta be some healthy, filling, diet recipes out there that don't require more than 10 ingredients, or more than 30 minutes in the kitchen, tops, right? I need a how-to book saying exactly what to eat and when, with recipes--like the South Beach Diet, only MUCH less varied & complicated. Please help!p.s. I know that black beans & brown rice (healthy although gassy), plain scrambled eggs, leafy greens, salad with vinaigrette, plain tuna, and lean grilled chicken breast (touching raw chicken--yuck!), are all healthy and pretty non-fattening, even in large quantities, except for the rice. But those are all the "recipes" I know. I wish there was a book full of diet recipes of that simplicity level. Maybe there is?I just saw the "A man, a can, and a plan" entry--hilarious! i'm currently 15 years old, almost 16. 5'1'', and about 150 pounds. my bmi 28.3, meaning that i'm overweight (obviously). i'd like to get down to a healthy weight of around 115-120...and if at all possible, i'd like to lose most, if not all, of this weight by Christmas when i'm getting together with my entire family. but how should i go about losing this weight? i've heard a lot about the south beach diet. a lot of people in my family tried it and had amazing results. the book says that you lose about 14 pounds in the first 2 weeks. if i stay on phase one a little longer, will i still lose a pound/day? people have told me to start with a cleansing diet before i go into an actual "diet". what are some good cleansing diets out there? preferably one that only last a day or two. what should i do about exercise? i have access to a treadmill, elliptical, bike, stair climber-ish thing, bowflex and free weights. where do i start?? any other weight loss tips are greatly appreciated!! also, if anyone has some good recipes for South Beach Phase 1, please send them to me. =] you are loved.  more

Im trying to eat more healthy. So far my diet consists of fat free milk, water, bran cereal, dry roasted peanuts, bananas,whey protein shakes, green olives, tuna, chicken thighs in marinade, and south beach diet wraps that I stuff with sliced turkey and cottage cheese. I plan to eat basically this for at least a month until I slim down, but I realized I need vegetables. I have tons of bags of mixed veggies, but they always taste like crap when I cook them. Hi, I am seventeen years old and I am looking to lose some weight. I will not be taking any diet pills. I am about 140 pounds, which is not good as I am also under five feet. I'm not athletic, but I do use the weight room at school and use a treadmill and weights at home for about a half-hour to an hour each day, every day. I have recently started, as of last night, =) the South Beach diet. I have a book and am excited to use it. My mom is going grocery shopping tomorrow, and I'd like some ideas for eating. The problem is, I can often be quite picky. Snacks are great, I don't know how those bars are, I'm still in "Phase One", but I love string cheese. Lunch is the problem. I'm not a fan of salads, and mushrooms are absolutely out of the question. So I'm really looking for some healthy, South Beach recipes that I can eat and lose weight with. Thanks for the help! And if you have any exercises that combat the obliques and belly area, those would be great, too. Jess more

PLEASE.I am 18 and i was always like 130-139 weight. then my life got shaken up. then my doctor was trying different anti-depressant pills, and like anti anxiety pills on me to see what worked. the side ffectson most of the onesi tried was weight gain. i started gaining more and more extremely fast. i actually gained about 60 lbs. it wasn't gradual at all. it was probably in a matter of 3-4 months. it was awful. now i am trying to lose the weight. i started the 6 week body makeover, and it is so restrictive. every day for every meal it's always the same. i have been making dinners out of the recipe book, but they are so awful. my dad thinks it is way to restrictive for someone as young as me. like no dairy. he is suggesting south beach or atkins. i dont know what to do. what drew me to 6 week was the 30lbs loss in 6 weeks. i need something likethat cause i am so tired of being overweight, but i need something not so bland. more exciting. i need help! what diet do you reccomend and why? thank you so much. more

do you have to follow the recipes in the book? the recipes in the book are limited to chicken ceaser salads, tuna salad, etc. im vegetarian, so can i substitue tofu for chicken and fish? and substitute beans in recipes? more

ASIDE from the official website. I can't afford to pay $60 for access. Now If I could pay weekly, that would be a different story! :-) I just bought the cookbook and I am a bit disappointed that it didn't include SBD safe versions of Lasagna and Pizza??!! Do you know of a website that might have those recipes? Or at least healthy versions of lasagna and pizza? Thanks! more

in phase 1 are you suppose to go by what it says to do days 1 - 14 or can do as you wish as long as your going by the list of foods you can have or use the phase 1 recipes ? I have noticed in some recipes it calls for some foods that are not on the list like alvacado. thanks in advance. more

ok, this is a SOUTH BEACH DIET greek SALAD recipe. i don't understan why it has SO MANY cals in one serving (501 cals). it's a salad! where are all the cals coming from?? could it be the feta cheese. help! (i thought a salad would have 200 cals.. 300 max!) 8 leaves romaine lettuce, torn into bite size pieces 1 cucumber, peeled, seeded, and sliced 1 tomato chopped 1/2 cup sliced red onion 1/2 cup crumbled reduced fat feta cheese 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice 1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves 1/2 teaspoon of salt Serves 1 Nutritional Value Per Serving: 501 calories, 22g protein, 25g carbs, 38g fat, 10g saturated fats, 2300mg sodium, 30mg cholesterol, 6g fiber.
