Open Question: Random Pains All Over Body?

I have these random pains that have been happening for about a week. Sometimes in my stomach, sometimes down my back, my neck, the top of my head (left or right side), my appendix area and sometimes my chest on the left side. The pains are sharp and shooting and can last from 5 seconds to 10 minutes. I have had my heart checked, my sugar is fine, my blood pressure is a -tad- bit high but rather normal, I am on Xanax and Zoloft for Panic disorders. But I have not had a -bad- panic attack in over a month, usually I had them once a day. Also when I put pressure on my arms my pinky and ring finger both fall asleep and lately I've also has the left side of my face going numb as well ... not really numb as much as it is tingly. My Doctor said he wanted me to wait 2 weeks and see what happens. ((The tinglyness has been going on for about 2 months)). Any ideas? I know my heart is fine. Thanks. Tara more

Resolved Question: wisdom teeth extraction problem?

I had my wisdom teeth removed (supernumeral, there were four on top and two on bottom) in early January of this year. I followed all the followup procedures to a T, but I've had several issues. For one, there was a hole in the back bottom left that never closed properly. No pain or anything, just annoyingly get food stuck there. Top upper left sinus cavity came open--was easily one of the very worst experiences I've ever had. The taste made me sick to my stomach, and I had to wait for it to seal on its own, which took about three weeks. Then I randomly had the right side come open on the bottom and got a massive infection. I could hardly open my jaw at all. I had to go to the dentist six times over the course of two weeks to keep that one under control. But all of that is nothing to what is STILL going on, and has been going on since day 1. One portion of my mouth was completely numb for about seven or eight weeks, during all of this. It's in the chin area from the middle of my mouth to the very far right corner of my mouth, running from the inside jaw/teeth area to the outside bottom of my chin. The completely numbness felt like it was going away after seven or so weeks, as I said. I thought it was getting better. This started during the cheek infection while the dentist was prodding around at it. I was beginning to regain feeling, but the feeling was very sharp, stinging and painful. That feeling is still going on, and the surgery was over four months ago. I can't drink, touch my lip, kiss my fiance, or generally touch that part of my face without extreme pain. Accidentally biting my lip while chewing can almost cause me to pass out, it's that bad. What should I do? I know sometimes the main nerve can be messed up completely from the surgery. The surgeon was a good doctor, I won't name names, but he's one of the biggest oral surgeons on the east coast. I don't think it was his fault, but I'd really like to be able live a normal life without this constant feeling of both tingling numbness and pain. I'd rather they just sever the nerve completely so I could just have a numb jaw than what I'm going through now. Can this be repaired? Should I wait a while longer and see if it goes away? I know sometimes it can take up to six months or a year for things to get normal, but I've never heard of such an issue as this... Sorry for such a long question, but it's driving me insane and I want to explain the situation to the fullest extent I can.Currently I have no insurance, really. I go to school and am able to use the university's hospital, but only while taking classes, and I'm not taking summer classes.... more

Voting Question: Pain behind my left knee?

I was helping lift a jacuzzi tub. Being focused on my bad back I wanted to be sure I used my legs more. As soon as we started to lift I shifted my legs to get a better grip and to place my right knee under the tub so I could push the tub higher to get it on its side. I instantly felt pain in the front inside of my left knee. Told my hubby I was pretty sure I strained something. Went on with the chore but by the time I laid down to take a nap for work the back of my knee hurt so bad. I could not bend my knee with significant (catch your breathe) pain. Even woke me while I was sleeping. I went to work and wrapped it in an ace bandage for support and have taken 800 of ibuprofen every 6-8 hours for pain and hopefully to ward off any inflammation. I can bare Weight just fine but bending, like sitting in a chair or up or down steps is painful. No swelling has occured and I am on day 3 now. I have bit more range of motion (small amt) but it is very painful especially if I have a knee jerk reaction or sit or stand for long periods of time. I am afraid to lay on my stomach and let my legs fall in a natural position because I fear it may pull on that area on the back of the inside of my knee. Is this a ligament injury? If so which one? How long should I let it go before I seek medical attention? more

Resolved Question: Back pain on lower left side?

I've had this pain a few times before but it usually disappears on its own within a few hours or overnight. I've had it now for over 24 hours. It's right where my left side love handle is, but it's inside. I can't tell if pushing on the area causes more pain. My stomach hurts occasionally, it's probably just the pain making me nauseous. I don't think I have any other symptoms of a kidney infection, but I'm not sure. I'm well aware that this could simply be a pulled muscle but the pain began out of nowhere, not as I was doing anything strenuous. I'm 16 and usually have minor backpain but this pain makes every slight movement very painful. How long should I wait before seeing a doctor?I also thought of that cause and laying on my stomach is the only thing that helps temporarily. But I've taken Tylenol all day, my Dad gave me a muscle relaxant and vicodin, nothing is helping. more

Voting Question: Wisdom Teeth Extraction- Unusual Swelling?

I've been posting a lot recently on here because this entire experience has been absolutely terrible. Apparently, my dentist is a moron which not only cut my face in the middle of the surgery but gave me medicine that is as harsh on the stomach as possible knowing that its difficult to eat after this surgery. I had 4 wisdom teeth extracted. I have a dry socket in my lower left and upper right area. I am successfully using clove oil to reduce pain in the dry socket. My problem is that in the lower right side UNDER the incision area (there is no dry socket) along my jaw and into my neck is massive HARD swelling and a completely different type of pain. I can barely turn my head to the right or look down. I feel like something isn't right and the dentist keeps saying "Oh its just swelling, it happens." It didn't show up like this until the 4th day after surgery and its only getting worse. I have normal swelling on the other side that goes down into my jaw line, I know what the normal swelling is, I want to know what this abnormal mass is on the other side. The pressure and pain is ridiculous and my 90 lbs. tiny booty took 2 darvocet and it didn't help it. There is something really wrong about this thing and I want to know if anyone has ever heard of anything like this being something besides "normal swelling". How can I demand they look into the issue? MRI, CT scan, Xray, ultrasound? Everything looks normal from the mouth view, its under that's a problem. Thanks in advance. more

Voting Question: Please help me, i dont know what is wrong with me :(?

Well, little history, im in my 20s, just had a baby this past summer, and working in the medical field. I have had chronic tiredness even prior to my pregnancy, the doctors ive seen states i just need sleep, or i just need to eat right, blablabla, etc. I can sleep 12 hours and wake up being very very tired...Also i have palpitations, dizziness everynow and then, tachycardia, everynow and then i get so sob when i walk up or down the stairs, and somtimes i get this feeling like i am about to just passout because i get so tired!!!, now 2 summers ago, they found out i had Right intracranial stenosis by a procedure called MRA, at that time my symptoms were headaches, numbness/tingling to left side of body, sometimes i even get stroke like symtoms to my left side of my body, it appears for about 2-3 mins and then goes away, but i havent had those symptoms in a while, but occasionally gets weakness/tingling to my left side. i also get nauseated easily- i have no clue why, i now have this sharp pain to my right hip, it started about september and is still here, off/on pain worse than before. i saw an orthopedic doctor and xray was done, which was normal, and MRI was also done of right hip and they saw some fluids on my pelvic culdesac, since they saw fluids in that area i was then referred back to my obgyn doctor ( have an iud) , they did an ultrasound, and told me everything was normal and they didnt see any fluids in the area??... at the point i wanted to crack my head open. Now im dreading the term Ovarian cancer, right now i feel like i have to pee, i get stomach cramps for no reasons and my lower back has been hurting too.. :( Are all these symptoms in my head and im unconciously just making all these up, and everybody tells me my hip pain is probably related to picking up my 10 month old son, i seriously doubt that because i done pick him up often as i should, and if i do pick him up, i pick him up the right way... i really dont even know what to do now, my hip pain now radiates up close to my right pelvic area and radiates down to my toes, hip hurts to touch, and pain also gets worse when i ambulate. Now on my lab tests, everything was pretty much normal, my mpv was about 6.5, im guessing thats okay since its close to the minimal range. i have history of cancers both sides of my family, also have diabetes, CAD, stroke, HTN, basically all the major diseases we have! my father has leukemia and going through radiation again, his cancer came back again. Could you please help me, or just please tell me what is wrong with me? Thanks more

Voting Question: Check out these 18 interesting things you can do to your body that you might have not known about?

Check out these 18 interesting things you can do to your body that you might have not known about!!! I think it is pretty cool!!! 1. If your throat tickles, scratch your ear! “When the nerves in the ear are stimulated, it creates a reflex in the throat that can cause a muscle spasm,” says Scott Schaffer, M.D., president of an ear, nose, and throat specialty center in Gibbsboro, New Jersey. “This spasm relieves the tickle.” 2. Experience supersonic hearing! If you're stuck chatting up a mumbler at a cocktail party, lean in with your right ear. It's better than your left at following the rapid rhythms of speech, according to researchers at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine. If, on the other hand, you're trying to identify that song playing softly in the elevator, turn your left ear toward the sound. The left ear is better at picking up music tones. 3. Overcome your most primal urge! Need to pee? No bathroom nearby? You are male? Then fantasize... Thinking about sex preoccupies your brain, so you won't feel as much discomfort, says Larry Lipshultz, M.D., chief of male reproductive medicine at the Baylor College of Medicine. 4. Feel no pain! German researchers have discovered that coughing during an injection can lessen the pain of the needle stick. According to Taras Usichenko, author of a study on the phenomenon, the trick causes a sudden, temporary rise in pressure in the chest and spinal canal, inhibiting the painconducting structures of the spinal cord. 5. Clear your stuffed nose! The easiest, quickest, and cheapest way to relieve sinus pressure is to alternately thrust your tongue against the roof of your mouth, then press between your eyebrows with one finger. This causes the vomer bone, which runs through the nasal passages to the mouth, to rock back and forth, says Lisa DeStefano, D.O., an assistant professor at the Michigan State University college of osteopathic medicine. The motion loosens congestion; after 20 seconds, you'll feel your sinuses start to drain. 6. Fight fire without water! Studies have shown that patients who sleep on their left sides are less likely to suffer from acid reflux. The esophagus and stomach connect at an angle. When you sleep on your right, the stomach is higher than the esophagus, allowing food and stomach acid to slide up your throat. When you're on your left, the stomach is lower than the esophagus, so gravity's in your favor. 7. Cure your toothache without opening your mouth! Just rub ice on the back of your hand, on the V-shaped webbed area between your thumb and index finger. A Canadian study found that this technique reduces toothache pain by as much as 50 percent compared with using no ice. The nerve pathways at the base of that V stimulate an area of the brain that blocks pain signals from the face and hands. 8. Make burns disappear! When you accidentally singe your finger on the stove, clean the skin and apply light pressure with the finger pads of your unmarred hand. Ice will relieve your pain more quickly, Dr. DeStefano says, but since the natual method brings the burned skin back to a normal temperature, the skin is less likely to blister. 9. Stop the world from spinning! One too many drinks left you dizzy? Put your hand on something stable. The part of your ear responsible for balance, the cupula, floats in a fluid of the same density as blood. “As alcohol dilutes blood in the cupula, the cupula becomes less dense and rises,” says Dr. Schaffer. This confuses your brain. The tactile input from a stable object gives the brain a second opinion, and you feel more in balance. Because the nerves in the hand are so sensitive, this works better than the conventional footonthefloor wisdom. 10. Unstitch your side! If you're like most people, when you run, you exhale as your right foot hits the ground. This puts downward pressure on your liver (which lives on your right side), which then tugs at the diaphragm and creates a side stitch, according to The Doctors Book of Home Remedies for Men. The fix: Exhale as your left foot strikes the ground. 11. Stanch blood with a single finger! Pinching your nose and leaning back is a great way to stop a nosebleed if you don't mind choking on your own O positive. A more civil approach: Put some cotton on your upper gums just behind that small dent below your nose and press against it, hard. “Most bleeds come from the front of the septum, the cartilage wall that divides the nose,” says Peter Desmarais, M.D., an ear, nose, and throat specialist at Entabeni Hospital, in Durban, South Africa. “Pressing here helps stop them.” 12. Make your heart stand still! Trying to quell firstdate jitters? Blow on your thumb. The vagus nerve, which governs heart rate, can be controlled through breathing, says Ben Abo, an emergency medical services specialist at the University of Pittsburgh. It'll get your heart rate back to normal. 13. Thaw your brain! Too much ice-cream too fast w13. Thaw your brain! Too much ice-cream too fast will freeze the brains of lesser men. As for you, press your tongue flat against the roof of your mouth, covering as much as you can. “Since the nerves in the roof of your mouth get extremely cold, your body thinks your brain is freezing, too,” says Abo. “In compensating, it overheats, causing an icecream headache.” The more pressure you apply to the roof of your mouth, the faster your headache will subside. 14. Prevent nearsightedness! Poor distance vision is rarely caused by genetics, says Anne Barber, O.D., an optometrist in Tacoma, Washington. “It's usually caused by nearpoint stress.” In other words, staring at your computer screen for too long. So flex your way to 20/20 vision. Every few hours during the day, close your eyes, tense your body, take a deep breath, and, after a few seconds, release your breath and muscles at the same time. Tightening and releasing muscles such as the biceps and glutes can trick involuntary muscle15. Wake the dead! If your hand falls asleep while you're driving or sitting in an odd position, rock your head from side to side. It'll painlessly banish your pins and needles in less than a minute, says Dr. DeStefano. A tingly hand or arm is often the result of compression in the bundle of nerves in your neck; loosening your neck muscles releases the pressure. Compressed nerves lower in the body govern the feet, so don't let your sleeping dogs lie. Stand up and walk around. 16. Impress your friends! Next time you're at a party, try this trick: Have a person hold one arm straight out to the side, palm down, and instruct him to maintain this position. Then place two fingers on his wrist and push down. He'll resist. Now have him put one foot on a surface that's a half inch higher (a few magazines) and repeat. This time his arm will cave like the French. By misaligning his hips, you've offset his spine, says Rachel Cosgrove, C.S.C.S., coowner of Results Fitness, in Santa Clarita. more

It is the straw-yellow coloured liquid. Platelets -Platelets are fragments of cells -The job of platelets is to help clot and form a scab -The platelets are involved in the formation of fibrin, which is needed for clotting blood -This is useful for stopping bleeding, and for preventing germs from entering the body through any exposed cuts. Blood is 50-60% Plasma, 40-45% red cells Plasma: -Fluid Portion of blood -Is 91-92% water and contains dissolved proteins, glucose, clotting factors, mineral irons, hormones, and carbon dioxide Red Cells: -Transfers oxygen from the lungs to all tissues of the body and return carbon dioxide back to the lungs. Job of the red blood cells: -They have a round, flat disc shape for a large surface area -They do not have a nucleus -They contain hemoglobin which contains oxygen in areas of high concentration -Oxygen + hemoglobin = oxyhaemoglobin - Red blood cells carry oxygen to the cells of the body for use in respiration White Blood Cells: -Help the body to fight invading bacteria -Will engulf and ingest invading bacteria -Produces antibodies which can recognize and fight bacteria -They produce antitoxins which neutralize toxins (poisons) that bacteria produce, which makes us feel ill Circulation of Blood The human circulatory system is really a two-part system whose purpose is to bring oxygen-bearing blood cells to all the tissues of the body. When the heart contracts it pushes the blood out into two major loops or cycles. In the systematic loop, the blood circulates into the body’s systems, bringing oxygen to all its organs, structures and tissues and collecting carbon dioxide waste. In the pulmonary loop, the blood circulates to and from the lungs, to release the carbon dioxide and pick up new oxygen. The systemic cycle is controlled by the left side of the heart, and the pulmonary cycle by the right side of the heart. Defending the Body 1st-line defenses- The body’s first line of defense against pathogens uses mostly physical and chemical barriers such as sweat, skin, tears, mucus, stomach acid, and so on. Our skin and other membranes which line the body passages are fairly effective in keeping most pathogens, which are then washed away or destroyed by chemicals. Tears, sweat, and saliva have certain chemicals which can kill different pathogens. 2nd-line defenses- If a pathogen is able to get past the body's first line of defense, and an infection starts, the body can rely on its second line of defense. This will result in what is called an inflammatory response. This is a reaction that causes redness, heat, swelling, and pain in the area of infection. Redness and heat are due to capillary dilation resulting in increased blood flow. Swelling is caused by the passage of plasma from the blood stream and into the damaged tissue. The pain is mainly due to the tissue destruction, and to a lesser extent, the swelling. 3rd-line defenses- Sometimes the second line of defense is still not enough and the pathogen is then heading for the body's last line of defense, the immune system. The immune system will recognize, attack, destroy, and remembers each foreign substance and pathogen that enters the body. It does this by making specialized cells and antibodies that makes the pathogens useless. Unlike more

Resolved Question: Feeling very anxious, stressed, have ovarian cysts and acid reflux, husband alcoholic....?

Can I put anything else in the subject line..... :) I feel like I have everything wrong with me at the moment and I am making myself ill I think!! Basically my husband is an alcoholic, which he is getting help for, but over the last few months he has been a complete nightmare and has left me in a bit of a state really. He was verbally and mentally abusing me to the point where I was hiding in my own home as he wasn't letting me sleep, which is very silly!!! He has now seen the light and has apologised for things and is trying to get help, but because of his behaviour he has caused me to be very stressed and very very anxious all of the time, I can not seem to calm down. I am shaking typing this. Also, I was diagnosed with acid reflux about 2 months ago, and am now on lansoprozol tablets twice a day. They were helping me, but now they don't seem to be, I don't know if its because I am stressed and anxious that my stomach does feel worse. My stomach feels very tender, If I press it, It makes me feel a bit nausious for a second then goes away. I have not actually been sick at all. I was also diagnosed with a fatty liver, which is just down to diet and exercise as they did a scan of my liver, gallbladder and pancreas and all came back clear apart from the liver part. But this area sometimes feels awkward to. When I first apoke to the doctor he said that these feelings are completely normal and in time they will go away (This was before I started being anxious etc though) I have not been back to the docs since. I do feel bloated most of the time. I have lost almost 2 1/2 stone over all of this, which is great as I needed to!!! Another stress is I have ovarian cysts, I have suffered with these for the 14 years now, they dont cause any pain though, but I just want everything to go away now and for me to feel better. I want to stop feeling anxious and I am constantly shaking on the inside not on the outside if that makes sence. I feel very on edge all the time and feel better when I walk around etc!! I also now have a pain in my right calf that I am now starting to worry about. My lower left side also feels quite tender. Can I add anything else to this???? Does anyone have any advice on this other than go to my GP? Does anyone else have the same kind of thing going on. I am just really worried and thinking that other things are wrong with me. Thank you for reading this boring message :) more

Resolved Question: I dont know if this is labor or something else. what do you think? sorry it is a little long?

I am about 33 weeks pregnant (the due date keeps changing by only a few days). I have been having issues with my babies size. he is huge! they told me to be ready to have him by my 35th week. they are not going to let me go past 38 weeks. they made it sound like I could go into labor on my own but early. having said that... I have had back pain all day, sometimes it is worse then others but it never fully goes away. I have also been having a lot of pain in my stomach. now that pain does come and go however one time it will be in the upper part and sometimes in the lower. it is never all over pain. and people told me contractions feel like really bad period cramps and mine feels nothing like that. I also have a pinching feeling in the place where my thigh meets my area. it is only of the left side though. I have felt like I have to go poop all day. I called the doctor but they didn't really say much. I am wondering if I should be worried or if all these things can be explained by other things.I have diahrea when I can go poop but I usually cant go. I just have pressure like I have to poop. more

Resolved Question: My stomach is making weird noises when i...?

So last week i had pain in my left kidney and bladder area, it lasted 5 nights. Starting last night i had the sensation you get when you hold your pee for too long in my bladder BUT i wasn't holding my pee! After about 1 1/2 hours of that i got a sharp pain in my abdomen/stomach area and it made me curl up because of the discomfort it caused. Well that went away fast, i went to bed, and woke up without it. Now i just tried "palpating" all of my abdomen area. On my left side nothing happens BUT when i press down all in my right side it makes noises! The noises you get when you're about to have diarrhea, just sounds like juices/liquids squirting all around in an organ in that area. What could this be?? PS: I was suppose to have an appointment this week but this stupid lady scheduled me wrong and now i have to wait until next week! I also had my first migraine last week! So many stuff happening to by body. I took 3 pregnancy test, all negative. more

Resolved Question: Do I have a hernia?? Can somebody help? :/?

I'm an 18 year old male and back in December (12/8/08), I had Laparoscopic surgery for an appendicitis. Then about a month later (January), I noticed that my left side near my belly button was a bit swollen. You see, because I had laparoscopic surgery..one of the incisions they had to make was on my belly button.Any whoo, I noticed it was swollen, but I had no pain. Recently, about 4 weeks ago, I'm starting to get this dull/achy pain near the belly button incision.Coincidentallyy, the pain is in the area of the swollen spot next to my incision. I went to my doctor to find out what the problem could be..the doc did a rectal exam, and also took my urine samples. She didn't find anything. She even tried to help locate the area by touching and feeling around my stomach..and there's nothing..So now as we speak, I'm starting to get this pain again :( and so I'm going to go to my doctor's again so she can at least assign me an x-ray. but my question is...Could this be a hernia?? I also should mention, that I commute to my school, and carry tons and tons of materials/books. Could I have caused a hernia? Thanks :) OH! Here's a pic I found on the net..just to show exactly where the pain is :) It's located with the red box. http://i42.tinypic.com/6hrfj5.png more

Resolved Question: I get very painful pains in my left side?

Every once in a while I will get constipated and when I need to go it is excruciating pain. Most of the pain comes from the lower left side of my stomach. My Doctor thinks it's diverticulitis but I'm still not sure. Last time it brought me to tears it hurt so bad. What is in that area of my stomach? I want it out. Any ideas as to what I have? more

Voting Question: Have you ever had a hernia, does this sound like one? and stomach lump?

I'm afraid of surgery so I want to know will it hurt after having it removed =( I'm 19 and out of shape and I'm trying to get back in shape. I'm not fat or anything Im just weak since I don't do much these days. okay let me describe whats going on with me. When I goto crouch down I kind of get some weird discomfort in and around my groin area. It isn't real bad pain but it is noticeable. I almost always notice it when I'm using that part of my body and sometimes when I cough (thats what made me think it was a hernia) Well, last night I was feeling around in my stomach and to the left side of my abs I feel a oval shaped lump and it's not on the right side of my abs and definetly feels like something weird and out of place. it doesn't reallly hurt but it doesnt feel like it should be there and I am pretty frightened it could be cancer or something =(. if I tighten my stomach or raise my abs out it kind of fades back down and I cant feel it anymore. does anyone have any ideas or have had this happen with them? I am going to the doctor in the morning but I am wanting to see if I can get any advice in the mean time and maybe anything I should ask my doctor when I go. these are two different things, the stomach lump and then the groin discomfort.I don't know if they are related. more

Resolved Question: Experiencing abdominal pain. Possible causes?

For the past week or so i have been experiencing lower left abdominal pain. I don't know how to pin point an exact point but it's kind of all over the left side near my hip area/stomach and along my stomach bellow my belly button Pain dull, sharp and intense often occurs when i am laying on my back or when i am just sitting in a chair. The pain could also be described as the feeling that occurs when you have a full bladder and you wait too long to release it. There is no obvious bludges on my stomach, it looks the same. I also have a the slightest yellowing colour coming into my eyes (closest to the nose). It's not obvious until someone gets up close to me and looks at my eyes or i myself get up close to a mirror. I feel completely fine apart from a little dissyness when i stand to quickly, or a turn around to quick or if i lift my head to quickly (has also come on in the past week). I feel a little weak, have started getting a weezing sound after i have been active even after just a 2minute game of fetch with my dog. I am a healthy person, i exercise. I could probably have a better diet and cut out some junk food. Apart from pains, weakness and dissyness i feel absolutely fine. I know instead of sitting on the computer i should be seeing a doctor but i wanted to know if it is the soundings of a 'real' problem. I am also 18 and had no sexual contact. Have not had sex, have no been penetrated by anything ect. (Too much information i know, but hey, if it helps!) more

Voting Question: Shooting head pain, joint pain, stomach ache 1 week + :(?

So about 1 1/2 months ago I was hit really hard on the left side of my head (it bled and then swelled and then went away), and a couple of weeks ago I was sick from strep throat for a week. NOW, for the past week, I have had constant stomach aches (especially in the center and under my ribs), soft stool, head aches (in the front of my head, near my temples, and in the area where I was hit), sharp shooting head pains in addition to the headaches, constant feelings of my head and face being squeezed, chest pains in all area of my chest, neck pains, a swollen area right where my neck meets my head (about 3 inches wide), joint and muscle pains, and pains in the area behind my ears. Sometimes, I also have pain above and under both eyes. I also consistently wake up in the middle of the night and can't go to sleep for an hour before I go back to sleep. Also, I have a low grade fever, and I feel fatigued. This kind of stuff has never happened to me before this week. I am only a teenager and I hope a professional can help me out! My blood tests so far were fine and my doctor prescribed me an MRI and EKG, but my appointments are a couple weeks away, so I just need some advice and any idea of what's going on in my body. Thanks in advance!!Also, forgot to add that I also have to burp constantly, get stomach pains instantly after eating food, and I started to develop an eczema type rash a couple days ago all over my body. more

Resolved Question: What are my chances of being pregnant?

Good morning ladies! My husband and I have been trying to conceive for the last 3 months or so. I am currently about 7-8 days past ovulation and AF is supposed to be here next week. This week though, I have been experiencing the following: sore nipples, full feeling in stomach, pains on left side of pelvic area, back ache, cramps like I get with AF, breaking out, not sleeping at night and weird dreams when I do, a little dizziness here and there, and I have put on a few extra pounds. Could these be early signs of pregnancy? When is the earliest I can test to get an accurate reading? more

Voting Question: ***Are these connected?***?

My period is 2 weeks(ish) late(last had it on the 20th Feb i think it ended on the 25-27 not sure, but that was a week late) Since this morning whenever i go to the toilet i get a pain on the left side of my waist/stomach area. (Like if you go left from my navel its there) It gets worse when i go to toilet but nothing else seems to make it worse. After 10-20minutes the pain goes away. Any ideas what it is and if my late period has something to do with it? (and im 14 so i aint pregnant -_-) more

Resolved Question: Chest pain when playing sports?

I was playing tennis day before yesterday, and all of the sudden i felt sharp chest pain.I stopped playing right away.I thought im having a heart attack.I went home,i was in panic,i thought im dying:(Scary.I told my wife whats going on,she said lie down and relax.I did,i calmed down a little, the pain was still there(about an hour later).Sometimes it would go away, then come back. When i lyed down face down,it completely went away,on my left side, hurt more,on the back also,on the right side less. When i was brething deep,i felt sharp pain, but if normal,no/little.It was spread over my chest, kinda dull pushing sensation. But then it kinda moved down a little, felt like i was hit in the stomach. It later went away, but at one point my three year old jumped on me when i was laying on back, she jumped on my chest/stomach area, and i felt sharp pain.I immediately lyed face down-pain went away.So at that point i wasnt worried that much.Next day, didnt feel a thing.Today too. What could that been? Im trying to lead a healthy life style,i dont smoke, rarealy eat fast food(usually i eat at subway,or my wife cooks for me),i eat multivitims, vitamin C,fish oil, green tea.I go to the gym or play tennis almost every day.Dont drink either(sometimes beer, maybe twice a month). But i do have a lot of stress though, and often i have anxiety and panic attacks.Well, let me know what you guys think it was.Thank you. more

Voting Question: almost 32 wks, and have a few questions...?

i am going to apologize now for this question being so long...but please read all details before answering. thanks! I am almost 32 weeks pregnant and have been having a watery, sometimes almost snotty like discharge that is a straw or brownish color. it does not really have an odor, and it has greatly increased in qauntity over the last few days. Is this my mucus plug? I have heard that some women lose it slowly instead of all at once. Also, I know that you are suppose to have some back pain, and I have had very minor back pain for a while, but it had been easily relieved with tylenol or a warm bath, and now I have constant lower back pain on both sides that reaches all the way up my back. My usual methods of relief have not been working, and it is no longer intermittant, but all the time. Also, a few days ago I began seeing small streaks of pink when I would go to the bathroom, but I haven't had any in a day or so.Was that the "bloody show" I hear about? Yesterday the baby really started moving. normally she is always on my left side, but it felt like she was turning because I could feel her head in my right side(it was really round) and now I no longer feel her head, just a heaviness. I used to feel her arms and legs moving on my right side, but now they are in the middle of my ribs, very near, and sometimes actually in my ribs. Does this mean that she has settled into the position for birth? I'm not sure if I am having braxton hicks contractions yet, but my stomach tightens up and it gets so hard I can't even push in on my stomach at all. Also in the last two weeks I have been rushing to the bathroom at least every 15 minutes with the urge to go, but either I am unable to go or I only pass a small bit of urine. Is this what they mean by feeling the added pelvic pressure that is supposed to be a precursor to labor? And now for a part that may be a bit TMI, and I do apologize...For the last two days I have been having Very loose bowel movements like diarrhea, and I was told that that also happens before labor begins...I never have a problem with loose stools, so this is unusual for me. Starting today i have been having minor cramps like when i get my period, and they sometimes feel like sharp shooting pains, and they are mostly one sided(the sharp ones anyways) And last but not least, I have been feeling alot of pressure in my vaginal area, in fact it hurts most of the time, and I have alot of rectal pressure, like i need to move my bowels, but can't. niether one hurts that much when i am sitting, but when i get up, it hurts very bad. Is this all signs that i am going to go into labor soon? I really appreciate all of your help and answers, not to mention your patience in reading this. more

Voting Question: Why does my tummy hurt?

I have had several scans of my stomach, including an MRI, an MRA, a CT scan, as well as an X-Ray, I've had a high point scan of my gallbladder & several blood tests that have ruled out Kidney disease & Liver problems. My stomach hurts on my right side, below my ribcage, right in my Gallbladder/Liver area. I don't understand why all the tests come back normal, when there is obviously something going on there! Could it be appendicitis? These tests have revealed Polycystic ovaries, acid reflux, degenerative disk disorder (in my back/spine), but nothing that explains this pain. A little more info about me: I have Meniere's Disease (a chronic disease of the inner ear that causes vertigo, as well as many other symptoms. See here for more details:: http://www.nidcd.nih.gov/health/balance/meniere.asp) I also have Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (for more info on TLE see here: http://www.epilepsy.com/epilepsy/epilepsy_temporallobe) As well as chronic Migraines, Osteoarthritis, & I'm blind in my left eye & deaf in my left ear. Believe it or not, I live a normal life, & until recently, I was a full time nursing/ Medical Laboratory Tech student & I maintained a 3.8 GPA. I also worked full time. With the recent pain in my side, I do OK, but keeping up with my kids & my husband is about all I can do. I can't go to the gym as much as I use to & my housework has fallen behind on more than one occasion. If I can live a completely normal life with Temporal Lobe Epilepsy, Osteoarthritis, Meniere's Disease & chronic migraine, I feel confident that I could resume that if I had a solution to this horrible pain in my side! Any clues would be great! I really prided myself on being able to maintain through all the problems that have come up & it seems silly to me that a pain in my stomach/side could debilitate me as much as it has! Thanks! Thanks for the response, but I actually drink loads of water & I eat soup, & oatmeal at least 12 times a week! I actually live on Ensure & Slim Fast drinks when I'm in school.I think it may be appendicitis! Please help!!! more

Resolved Question: Back and stomach pains?

Anyone know what this might be? I have pain in my back that feels tender, using a hot water bottle can sometimes ease it, but its always there. The pain is in my back across the top heading down to the middle, normally on the left and right hand sides. Also across my stomach to the right under un liver feels it a little to. Any ideas. I do have acid reflux and a fatty liver, could it be to do with this? Its really upsetting me now as I want to feel normal again. I have also had a scan in this area a few months ago and it showed nothing except a fatty liver.. Thanks more

Resolved Question: Cramp pains or pregnant?

I had my period about 2 weeks ago.. It came three days late but it lasted the usual amount of time. I have noticed the past week that I have random "cramp like" stomach aches, usually on my lower left side. I always use a condom and I am just about to start birth control in a couple of days. I'm sooo nervous. I live in an area that says you can get an abortion because I am only 17, but I can't tell my parents.. ever. So please don't everyone say abortion is a sin and tell your parents, because no one understands.. So i just really need to know what to do.. because.. I'm freaking out/hopefully overreacting..My period isn't expected for another 2 weeks. These are just random cramps that feel like period cramps. I'm freaked. more
